19th Century Yew Wood Windsor Armchair W395
Early 19th century low back Windsor armchair in Yew wood with an elm seat. A classic design from the North East Midlands, it features a stylised fleur-de-lis fretwork in the upper back splat. Ring turned legs are united below with a crinoline stretcher.
The wood has aged with a beautiful colour and patina. A fine example of this early regional Windsor chair, when the art of bending wood to form comfortable seating was perfected. It is in very good condition. Circa 1820
