19th Century Iron and Brass BANK Money Box W360

A fine way to encourage saving money in mid 19th century England was to have one's own Bank! This crafted bank money box is made of sheet metal, soldered and nailed, painted black. The front, finished to create the appearance of the building with applied brass, is a triumph of naive brass making, including details such as the gas lamp-post and the railing.
A lovely piece of antique folk art, in good condition. Circa 1850
