Early 19th Century Elm Dough Bin V712

An interesting piece of small furniture with many different uses, this antique dough bin was once of critical importance in feeding the local populace. In it would have been the dough for the next days bread, rising and ready to be baked.
This fine bin is made of elm wood, so it has an lovely grain and colour. It has a shaped freize at the front, an unusual touch of decoration for a dough bin. It has survived the centuries in superb condition, with a flat single piece top and original turned legs. Circa 1830
