George 1 Walnut Bureau on carved cabriole legs. A fine and attractive small piece of furniture, it is veneered and crossbanded with walnut, and has contrasting inlay to the fall front. A simple fitted interior is finished with an inset leather for writing. Below are 2 oak lined long drawers, fitted with 18th century brass handles (however, they are not the original handles) The escutcheons are probably original. The bureau sits on finely carved cabriole legs that terminate in claw and ball feet, in superb original condition. Small patches of veneer are inevitable on antique walnut furniture, but this little treasure of a bureau has travelled the centuries well, with minor restorations and a great colour. Circa 1720
