Antique Georgian Fruitwood Lowboy. U02

The quintessential 18th century English country house side table is the cabriole leg lowboy. Often in walnut or mahogany, this example is in solid fruitwood. The top, with a moulded edge, sits above 3 drawers which are lined with pine. The pierced brass handles are original, one of them is repaired. The cabriole legs, ending in pad feet, are in lovely condition, retaining their small carved decorative ears. The lowboy is beautifully proportioned with a dark honey colour. It is in original condition, with repairs to the drawers where edges have suffered from wear. The top has had woodworm in areas where lighter sapwood has been used, this is not recent and does not affect the beauty of the top surface. Circa 1750.
