19th Century Lignum Vitae String Barrel. T857

A gardener may be delighted this Christmas with this mid 19th century brass banded String Barrel. Turned from lignum vitae, the upright barrel is in 3 sections that screw together. The brass tap is designed to be the string outlet and the string cutter. A fine piece of household treen, showing the beauty of the wood grain and shine that is the hallmark of lignum vitae, and in superb condition. Circa 1850.
