19th Century Figured Oak Lace Box. N845

A finely made box for storing treasures! This early 19th century box was probably used for lace and embroidery items. The lid opens onto a top compartment that has original pink paper lining. Below is a single drawer. The maker has used oak in a decorative manner, selecting for grain, especially in the cross banding. Fine line stringing throughout lis typical of the period and lends smartness to this oak box. Circa 1820.
