The laminated wood horizon ring has its complete paper scale showing months, zodiac signs, etc. "Copyright 1898 by TH Costello" is printed on the rim.
Globes are dated according to political changes. This one shows Petrograd in Russia, dating it between 1914 (when it was changed from St Petersburg) and 1924 (re-named Leningrad). With no changes from the Treaty of Versailles after WW1, it therefore shows a pre-1919 Europe.
The condition is excellent, one small dent on Beirut, about 1.5cm by 0.6cm. The surface has typical minor rubbing and fading commensurate with its age.
