Early 19th Century Dutch Mahogany Tea Kettle Bucket

A fine example of a Dutch tea kettle warmer. These containers, wooden with a metal inner liner, were used to contain smouldering charcoal that kept a tea kettle warm. This mahogany brass banded coopered bucket is of the elliptical shape usually known as an"oyster bucket". It is in lovely condition, the brass bands fully intact, and the original surface having a good colour.
