18th Century Country Chippendale Open Armchair

A good late 18th century country open armchair in the Chippendale style. Made in elm, it has the distinctive figuring and warm colour of the wood. The carving of the arms, top rail and back splat is executed with skill and flair. The seat rails and chamfered front legs are finished with carved line moulding, nicely softened with age. The drop-in seat has been re-upholstered. The chair is a fine example of its period, and in superb original condition.
